My ISP obfuscates my location by replacing it with an IP address . However, if the government wants to know my location, they can ask my ISP to find out a physical address based on an IP address. They can also ask Cloudflare to find out an origin IP address based on a domain name. This is normal. It's also slow. The Spanish government doesn't want to bother arresting pirates, it would rather be seen doing something about the problem, without doing something about the problem.
I hope that train rides get more and more popular and especially cheaper.
At the moment I am looking at a 10 hour car-trip to the mountains in Switzerland. The train trip would be the same. The only sad part about it is that it would cost me and my family around 900 Euro's. If we would calculate the car trip it would be around 242 Euro.
In the train I can read, chill, watch out the window, play board games with my children,...
In the car I need to pay attention to the road, my children are hooked to a tablet or annoyed and bored.
But to go to the UK with the train it is a no-brainer. 2 hour trip to arrive in the middle of London, Paris, Amsterdam,... for 200 Euro's for the whole family.
I can stay longer and work remotely from there as well. Anyway, why do you care what exactly do I do? I simply need the range or super fast recharging as non-negotiable items.
It also just doesn't make sense. Like, we train a human and that takes 20 years of food.
To train an LLM it needed a collection of 800TiB of data (The Pile). To generate that pile, you needed millions to billions of humans. So did training the LLM now suddenly take 20.000.000 billion years of food or are we not allowed to make the same shitty comparison.
I doubt they'd just add a UUID in a file header somewhere. If they uniquely modify the actual audio samples in a way that is inaudible during casual listening, that would be much harder to "diff", I think.
Can you guys catch up on the absolute basics of the last twenty years of audio watermarking research before continuing this conversation please dear god
Are you saying that two audio files each watermarked for a specific different user will not show a difference? Because then I am genuinely interested in how they achieved that feat
And I love that requirement. I do banking on my desktop and to confirm the transfers I get a push notification from a third-party application (ItsMe, so not a banking mobile app) with all the information I have entered.
I can confirm the transaction from a complete separate device while doing a second check if all details are correct.
The requirement per se is not the biggest problem. Implementation by different banks is. In my country I have several bank accounts.
One bank allows me to install mobile app on up to 5 smartphones, all I need is connect the smartphone to the Internet (e.g. through Wi-Fi).
Another bank allows me to have up to 3 smartphones, but identifies them by phone number, so it forces me to have 3 difrerent SIM cards
Yet another bank will only allow me to have mobile app only on one device. To activate on another device I need to receive SMS code, and if I lose my SIM card I need to show up at a branch in person.
That’s only the case if you spend all day rerunning deployments. If your task is more frequently to transition the cluster config from A -> B then the distinction blurs and you go from a 10:1 delta ratio of the different classes of state to maybe 3:2, at which point it feels like splitting hairs.
Especially if the locals vary between prod and pre-prod, and worse if dev sandboxes end up with per-user instances, which for us was mercifully only needed for people working on the TF scripts, so we could run our tests locally.
We have multiple separate environments per application. For environment specific inputs we use variables.
The distinction is very clear in our team. Locals are used as const (like an application name), variables are for more dynamic user/environment inputs and data is to fetch dynamic information from other resources.
Zero problems. If a local becomes more environment specific a quick refactor fixes that. You can also have locals that use variable or data values if necessary.
One big win we also have is that we stopped using modules except for one big main module. We noticed from previous projects that as soon as we implemented modules everything became a big problem. Modules that are version pinned still required a lot of maintenance to upgrade. Modules that weren't version pinned caused more destruction than we planned. Modules outputs and inputs caused a lot of cycle problems,... Modules always seem too deep or too shallow.
In the Netherlands around 30% of people cycle to their work. [1]
In Belgium around 32% cycle to their work. [2]
I would think that is a significant amount no?
I cycle to my work every day. It is around 9 KM and takes me around 20 minutes. For rain you have a rain suite, for winter you have a jacket. The amount of times I took the car in rainy Belgium is 4 times in 2023 because of storm conditions.
As more and more people are starting to see the hassle free transportation method of cycling, they also start taking the bike and infrastructure keeps improving.
