I don't think it's that. Ever since google news went to shit I rely on wikipedia to read the news and I was surprised that wikinews was actually a thing and it was discontinued for .. this? My first guess was that it's because they don't have control over it as much as the "official" news outlets. So they just shut it down. It's important because the news is actually where things happen for the majority of people, this is why propaganda works afterall.
If you develop a comprehensive watchlist of the articles and topics you're most interested in, you can simply watch that watchlist for article updates. You will immediately notice, I guarantee it, whenever some news item breaks. Within seconds there will be some aficionado come to update the article, and add the information, cited or uncited. Even after the fact, the article history is an extremely accurate indicator of the exact moment when that news was revealed or published.
The Main Page has a good summary of the biggest world headlines, and obituaries, so Dolly Parton's death won't escape your notice. Also, if you watch the disciplinary and/or dispute-resolution boards, you will discover all current controversies, which will generally include mass shootings and large-scale tragedies, as well as major political disputes and troubles worldwide.
Other than that, the design looks a lot more appealing than the all clear cases they have with most of their other versions. It is a good mid-ground between beige bland and LED madness.
When the "new" C64 was first announced I was really hoping they would add a physical switch on the back of it that would let you switch between using it as a computer and using it as a keyboard to drive your normal machine.
Some meta keys could get a bit wonky, but I'd snap one up in a heartbeat!
Yeah, I’ve actually used that keyboard before. It has a bit of a hollow feel. I really love 8BitDo’s game controllers, but I've always found their keyboards to be a bit lacking.
My other big issue is honestly that super "in-your-face" 8BitDo decal at the top. That’s the kind of thing that takes away from the whole C64 aesthetic for me, and it really should have been placed on the bottom.
I'd love to see Keychron do a C64 themed wireless 75% mechanical though.
I think they still sell the one from the previous owners that's an Atom-based PC in a beige breadbin. There are ways to use it to drive your workstation.
We are now burning the second-most valuable resource, Inertia. It takes a long time to unwind a relationship, even when Trust is gone.
In fact, the lack of Trust makes it take even longer. And a lot of people still have that third-most valuable asset (Hope) that Trust can be re-built before Inertia runs out. Which also adds to the Inertia.
Still, Inertia is finite. It will take a decade or more to really use it all up, but it's going fast. And probably accelerating: once you've discovered that Inertia isn't all it's cracked up to be, you can set about finding new people to Trust, in earnest.
Not surprised that the Apple Vision division is getting hit. With Ternus coming in, he will both be wanting to show to investors that the hard cuts can be made, but also use it as a chance to clear out some of the lesser products while saving face for the company.
I suspect we might see a 3rd revision of the Apple Vision but I'm not sure there will be a 4th unless there is a significant change to the overall product.
As many said when it first came out, it is brilliant technology but it has struggled to find an question for it to answer.
There was a great episode of the show/podcast 'If you're listening' from just last week all about the secret service and how the amount of plots and attacks on the US president is increasing as the amount of resources available is diminishing. This is another one to the list.
I mean it is good advice but I suspect that the happiest people around, you would never know about them. They are quiet and content.
I have said this about Monk's, yes you do give up a lot of worldly attachments to take on that role, but at the same time you also gain an additional identity. That of the robes and the role. This is not to say "They are just putting it on!", it is to say that they haven't escaped the trap entirely.

Unfortunately, looking at the last few years, one can see which way the wind is blowing. The world is preparing for war. A more tribal, isolationist and smaller world.
I'm not surprised that even decades later they have not recovered. It is like old growth forests on the land, once you clear them it can take centuries to recover.
Actual journalism is difficult and costly to try and ensure speedy and accurate as possible reporting. The wiki model doesn't work like that.
