The US being the 'free-st' place on earth at anytime is quite the misnomer. Sure, you can be 'free' if you are white, wealthy, oh and land owning. Tale as old as time. Sure, you can protest, but many many other countries have far surpassed the US on that one, and have been doing it a whole lot longer.

Hold your horses, segregation was abolished in 1954, not sure US has ever been close from "the freest place on earth".

As a successful nonwhite person in the US, AbsurdCensor made an infantilizing comment. Non white people have flocked here in droves because of the freedom afforded to anyone to become wealthy. I agree that we are back sliding (tax burden, regulatory burden, political repression, etc.) but it is absurd to make it about race and say that it wasn't once the freest place to start a business and even express yourself.

Also, WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux) has been baked into Windows for a long time and makes it very easy to play with Linux, as does using the Hyper-V VM system. Any developer unfamiliar with Linux because they use Windows, has little excuse.

Agreed, even game devs that ignore Linux as target for their AAA games, actually tend to use Linux for game servers, the age of IIS with .NET/ISAPI is long gone, except for legacy code stuck in .NET Framework.

Modern .NET did not went cross platform by accident, and Java development has always been "develop on Windows deploy on UNIX", in corporations where Mac tends to have little presence.

It's a 100" telescope... from 1917. To summarize Wikipedia for you (my words, not a genai): While it was used by famous people like Hubble it isn't used for scientific work anymore. Some adaptics optics stuff happened in the 1990s, but I suppose that was just to test the system on a telescope that wasn't in active use anymore. In 2014 it "began its new life as the world's largest telescope dedicated to public use".

So I'd say it's a good use as any ;-)
