I'm a disabled student, not blind, but I work extensively with my university's Student Disability Center. For a blind student, common accommodations are extra time on the exam and a scribe to note the answers down.
Oof, that bug doesn't inspire confidence that this will be a worthy experiment. Thanks for the link though, I'll test against a fresh install of osx on a laptop.
I tried Firefox on OS X but it maxes my CPU frequently, doing simple tasks like scrolling or loading small gifs on Reddit, slowing my system down significantly. I noticed my fans spinning much more frequently than Chrome. It appears to be linked to using scaled resolutions [0]. Until this is fixed, Chrome is significantly faster for me, which is disappointing because I like everything else about FF.
I use Nightly on OS X for web development work every day and don’t see anything like this. Including using multiple screens with scaling (although I almost never work on the battery).
The one annoying issue that I do get is occasionally Dev Tools will stop working for a window and I have to close and open the Tools windows. Outside that, no complaints on OS X.
Is there any way to make the standalone Messenger open in the FB Container? The way I see it, the two are intrinsically linked since using Messenger requires an FB login.
Edit: After playing around, this also breaks the back button. If anyone from Mozilla is here, I think it would be better if an FB page opened in a new tab while keeping the original open.
In my opinion, it is clear the author simply copied that video, because not only is it the exact same set of papers, if memory serves (as I watched it only last week), it is in the exact same order, which is particularly determinative. Citation would be appropriate at the very least.
This is really incredible. I'm a quadriplegic student and you don't really see people in my position in tech, and definitely not in executive roles so this means a lot in terms of proving it's possible.
Somewhat tangentially, the current governor of Texas is also paraplegic. I suppose if you place his politics aside since they are quite disagreeable to the typical HN reader you could probably find some inspiration in his success as a paraplegic in the political spectrum as well.
A quick Google search tells me the closest Cal State to me, Sacramento, has a 67.3% acceptance rate. Slightly higher than the national average of 64.7%, although I'm not sure how trustworthy those numbers are.
I went to CSUS. I'm very surprised it's that low. Shortly after the one year I went there, they implemented a "fast track" acceptance which basically meant they accepted you as long as you had a high school diploma.
