Or like Meshico

That is how Mexico used to be pronounced in Old Spanish. Kind of like how X is sometimes pronounced "sh" in Portuguese. The name was based on an indigenous name which had the "sh" sound there.

Including this case! México is still pronounced with the "sh" in Portuguese :)

If you need equality, just use fixed point

I agree that using fixed point in many cases is a better option. But floating point is assumed to be the default choice for computations with non-integer numbers, because almost all popular programming languages have only floating-point built-in types, but not fixed point types.

The last time I tried to make AI built a drag and drop UI, it failed miserably. Things wouldn't line up or even didn't work at all. Any tips for that?

Ask it to take control of a browser using something like Playwright and use the UI itself like an end user would and evaluate whether it is a good experience.

In the morning I listen to chill electronic music without lyrics: Tycho, Emancipator, Blackmill, Jon Hopkins

Later in the day I listen to more energetic electronic music (a lot of which is from the Hotline Miami soundtrack): M|O|O|N, Dan Terminus, Carpenter Brut, Daniel Deluxe, 1788-L, Pendulum

Carpenter Brut and a ton of caffeine was vibecoding before LLMs.

My go-to is Paronator - Flowers of Life[1]. It makes an hour melt away.

The soundtracks for those two games are just so so good and perfect for that post-lunch caffeinated focus time.

For me it's the soundtracks to Deus Ex (basically all the games), Mr. Robot, and Halt and Catch Fire.

That is so specific, I can't believe there is someone else out there that flows to Deux Ex. I've had whole sessions with Human Revolution on repeat. You might also like some synthwave: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Gajv2yJt5M The Moebius FM and Frequency channels have many nice long mixes.

Alive 2007

In Motion is my favorite productivity track as well. Most of the time I just listen to the whole The Social Network soundtrack

I love hacker soundtracks too! I play the OST for Mr Robot and Halt and Catch Fire

So that is where Silicon Valley got the "Consider the X" running gag from.

"Also, we’ve learned more about the bad effects of lighter-than-Earthly gravity on human bodies,"

How can he confidently use that argument when we don't have any data between 0g and 1g, other than 12 Apollo astronauts, that spend less than 3 days on the moon?

It might very well be that the 0.38g on Mars are sufficient to make many problems go away. The two simple facts of your blood being pulled downward and moving your body around taking effort could already fix a lot of the medical issues astronauts face in 0g.

Of course that is true, every Mars enthusiast will agree. Not a single person is saying to leave Earth behind to rot. Agree with Mars proponents or not, but at least don't argue against strawmen. Their actual argument treats Mars as a backup strategy for humanity and a science outpost

I had exactly the same question. In the linked tweet the CEO claims it's not an animation. But in the article they imply certain animations are played when a specific signal is detected.

I think a full simulation without these precreated animations would be more convincing that they actually fully simulated a fly's behavior. It's very easy to make it look like real behavior using animations, videogames do exactly that.
