This, I agree to this 100%. I was able to get at least 2 apps, 2 SAAS products out by pairing up with AI. I was able to learn this as I go and get an app running in the matter of hours than months. Great for prototype to production. -> learn-> fix -> ship -> learn more -> fix things -> ship more.

That being said, I am a generalist with 10+ years of experience and can spot the good parts from bad parts and can wear many hats. Sure, I do not know everything, but, hey did I know everything when AI was not there? I took help from SO, Reddit and other places. Now, I go to AI, see if it makes sense, apply the fix, learn and move on.

Wow, it looks like Google and Microsoft timed their announcements for the same day, or perhaps one of them rushed their launch because the other company announced sooner than expected. These are exciting times!

Google IO is this week, same as Microsoft Build. Battle of the attention grabbing announcements.

We have to see what Google has in store, probably better models, AI integrations with Android Studio and may be bring glasses back?

Yes, the masses are practically heaving with excitement, indeed

Both announcements on the heels of OpenAI Codex Research Preview too, which is essentially the same product

All the monies on the same idea at the same time, sounds a bit desperate to me.

Very timely for me as well, have been having tough time with my partner especially about how unfriendly and critical I sound, even though my intentions are for general improvement and well being around home.

There is little less welcome than unsolicited "advice", especially coming from the person and place that are supposed to be the refuge from all the shit going on in the world.

A long-term partner probably knows you better than anyone. No one likes getting called out on their stuff, if you want to grow as a person or as a couple you’re going to move past that initial discomfort, reflect on it and then decide if it’s valid enough feedback to try to integrate it.

"Hey, are you open to feedback?" works wonders. Also be prepared for "no". This does require someone who's able to say no though, which isn't a given.

The sentiment of elderly become like children is very strong IMO and it actually makes sense; not in terms of innocence of children but the physical(and somewhat mental abilities) weaken as time progresses.

As per ancient texts, there are four stages to one's life. Brahmacharya (student), Grihastha (householder), Vanaprastha (forest walker/forest dweller), and Sannyasa (renunciate). I always wonder if the ancient Indians really did that and how the society would have looked back then.

With that said, modern Indian's diet is drastically different from what the ancients ate and also the daily physical work(insert yoga, going to rivers for water and rituals, farming etc) ancients must have done is very different. Not only that, the elders were considered scholarly and wise since they have the done the walk of life; and because of that, alms were given out by the Kings and other working men to the elderly. Today's society holds less relevance to all this and renunciation is clearly not an option and has faded away into the history.

Vanaprastha (forest walker/forest dweller) aka. hiking, and Sannyasa (renunciate) aka. off-grid are the new age terms and I find that very interesting idea to purse at least for my old age.

Happy New Year! నూతన సంవత్సర శుభాకాంక్షలు!

In case you are wondering what language it is, its Telugu! :)

This happened to me on Google Maps.

I hired packers and movers and once everything was done, they asked me to post a Google Maps & Yelp review to get $50 off.

Platform abuse is there everywhere, but do they go unnoticed is the question.

According to wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_campaign_of_Alexander_t...

"Alexander's march east put him in confrontation with the Nanda Empire of Magadha and the Gangaridai of Bengal. According to the Greek sources, the Nanda army was supposedly five times larger than the Macedonian army.[5] His army, exhausted, homesick, and anxious by the prospects of having to further face large Indian armies throughout the Indo-Gangetic Plain, mutinied at the Hyphasis (modern Beas River) and refused to march further east. Alexander, after a meeting with his officer, Coenus, and after hearing about the lament of his soldiers,[6] eventually relented,[7] being convinced that it was better to return. This caused Alexander to turn south, advancing through southern Punjab and Sindh, along the way conquering more tribes along the lower Indus River, before finally turning westward.[8]

Alexander died in Babylon on 10 or 11 June 323 BC. In c. 322 BC, one year after Alexander's death, Chandragupta Maurya of Magadha founded the Maurya Empire in India. "

There are large number of other texts/journals that tells his story differently. He was defeated so badly at the entrance of Indian peninsula that he had retreat and finally succumbed to his injuries.

Doubtless yours is a text from the Indian perspective while the parent's narrative is from the Greek/Macedonian/Western perspective. I don't have standing to say which is more or less likely, but both are probably engaged in some amount of motivated reasoning or selective memory (hence the continuing mystery of Alexander's death).

One has to realize that historical recordings have rarely, if ever, been impartial. If you have two opposing accounts, the truth, with some probability, is somewhere in between. We will never know for sure though.

Could you provide a link to some of these sources? I've never seen the story portrayed that way. Even if we assume that all Greek sources are biased surely at least one of them would mention Alexander having been injured in combat in India, but none do.

I second this. I have been practicing Isha's meditation technique 'Shambhavi' which I learnt at Inner Engineering program. No matter what, I set aside 45-60 mins everyday for doing basic yoga and meditation for the last 5 months. Firstly, daily yoga made me very aware of my posture(work/excercise/sports) and it has helped me gain discipline in life. Secondly, the inner peace after meditating lasts very long and it mellows down my entire day. I am more aware of my emotions and thoughts. I am very grateful for this.
