Well, the theme idea is actually for a 'real' project. So I get it, it's repurposed, but for what I want it for, it works...

I will have to test to see if I can detect an ad blocker and just not send it to avoid the error. Which adblocker should I test with?

see previous comment.

Nah, posted it with the url first time and it would take you straight to the site. Once I realized the content wasn't visible, I posted it without the link. The spaces between it was to make the content unique so it didn't get blocked for multiple submissions.

But ya, I would have thought the same thing.

HackerNews.ca aggregates and displays the latest tech news from Hacker News, including details like the source, age, and score of each article, with options for reading and discussion. The site also includes sponsored content and is updated every five minutes.

New Theme: I find it's easier on the eyes.

Provide feedback!

Great idea.

Earlier today i noticed some 3rd party scripts were failing. Decided to make a few tweaks to the site. Saw a post that matrix 4 is happening... Hmmm... :)

IF YOU GET IT, POST IT HERE!

OK, so a month ago I was thinking of going all out and getting myself a sweet System76 laptop but then I thought about it and since I am doing most of my coding for web and apps, there is no need for a super kickass system. Decided I would try it instead on an older laptop. I picked up a thinkpad X220 for $200 and added an SSD drive, and I got to tell you, the thing has been pretty solid. I think I am going to upgrade again shortly and was looking again at the thinkpads... 20+ years of refinement has produced a solid machine.. Even the older models. That my 2cents.

I just realized the post was not on the linked article. I've simply copied and pasted it from the other post.

I have a confession 1 point by hackernewscdn 2 hours ago | hide | past | web | 1 comment | favorite I have a confession. I love reading Hacker News while in the bathroom on my mobile. Yes, I know. Disgusting. But it's important to understand where the "NEED" for a mobile friendly version came from. It's one of the few times during the day that I can surf what I want without some other agenda or task pulling me away. The mobile experience was always pretty meh on the official site and required me to pinch zoom to read the contents when I should be focusing on pinching something else. I was going to use a reader when I thought, why don't I just wrap it with some css and display it the way I like it. I also made it easy to share the articles across different social sites, and since I was designing this for myself, I figured I would just make it easy to do the things I do when I do them. I don't vote on articles. It's just not what I do. I share the cool one's. I also added a more promenent search (at the top) so I can find what I want. I also put in some categories for things I tend to want to keep up on and added a few hotkeys (alt - s = search). the design is a work in progress with no plans to ever "finish" it. It's just an experiment and totally selfish. If you find yourself "needing" a mobile friendly version, feel free to try it. Warning: It's still in alpha.... it's still being worked on... also open to suggestions.

haha... it's a mosh posh of different layouts and such... bloated css and orphaned code riddle this site. I make no appologies :P Like I said, it's a work in progress.
