When? Someone should really either fix the link in the OP or give the info there... I'm not sure what this Anyvite site is, but this is giving me a horrible first impression for something that may or may not even be their fault. Unfortunate, but such are first impressions...

Anyvite is a YC company. Their Tweetvite service - http://twvt.us - is baller. I've never actually used the old-school Anyvite service.

you have to log in to read documents on Scribd? i've never had to.

Was it to view them as the source PDF rather than their Flash approximations, then? I can't remember, but they /did/ get on my nerves more than once requiring an account to get at the hosted content.

Yes, it was for the pdf. Clutter the web with SE spam, and the make you log in to get the real document. Gee, thanks.

i wonder what this will do to Apple's hardware lineup? If people are demanding more power from macs as game technology on the platform advances, and people can't just upgrade their video card, what will happen to the game market? Die off, or goad Apple into a mid-range mac pro?

man, there was no web browser in windows 3.1. not even in windows for workgroups 3.11.

Although Internet Explorer 5 can be installed on 3.11.

Rome, although, may just end up being a pipe dream. YMMV.

from the article: '“Three-D is an effort by the industry to come up with something that will motivate consumers to trade up,” said Van Baker, an analyst at Gartner Research.'

i think that's the root of it. and i suspect they will have a hell of a time trying to manufacture consumer demand to meet their supply.
