The detailed commentary on the noticeably androgynous physical and “mental” characteristics of the future males in a society that has decided the trisolaran issue doesn’t exist anymore and has fully accepted defeatism (through non natural means, but still).
IIRC, this society then attempts to pursue diplomacy only to get massacred before the archaic male heroically sets up a MAD situation.
The archaic male then controversially hands over control of the MAD response to a weak willed/nuance entertaining female, and the trisolarans immediately attack.
Apologies if I’ve mixed the timeline, it’s been a while and the human story draped over the skeleton of an interstellar war was a bit thin.
I think the message of the book is more complex than that. The character who sets up the MAD situation spends half of the book having already given up, before discovering the MAD solution. At the same time, Earth pursues a straightforward military strategy of building a large space fleet to stop the Trisolarians, but are unable to anticipate the aliens' superior technology makes their efforts futile.
Ultimately, Earth sends the MAD signal, and ends up destroyed. The goal of the artificially installed defeatism was to make humanity flee the Earth, and it's only the those who fled the Earth who survive its destruction.
It’s actually interesting those are the samples as I would probably characterize the West & (North) East they’re all from as the most “hyperactive” parts of the country vs the South & Mexican Border at the other end of the spectrum, with the Mid West & rest of the East somewhere in between (but probably closer to the coasts than the south & border).
Look out for any exciting opportunities to visit El Paso, Texas or Birmingham, Alabama for a proper comparison sometime if you can.
Bonus points for Brownsville, Texas where you can get a well steeped mix of the South & border along with a rocket launch!
Facebook said it tied about 100 Facebook and Instagram accounts and pages to the alleged operation tied to people linked to the French military. The pages had about 5,000 followers on Facebook, the company said.
Two separate networks of Russian pages, both allegedly linked to a Russian troll group, were also removed. Those pages had about 6 million followers, Facebook said.
It’s not immediately clear from the article whether those Russian troll groups were the specific ones active alongside and with the French one in CAR, Niger etc, but some perspective is in order nonetheless.
This is what large companies do. The propagandistic terms known as public relations and reputation management. I just hope people won't think this is over once Facebook is dealt with.
>smear campaigns
France was also running a smear campaign in a foreign country. Just like Russia. Just like the US. Just like tons of countries. I don't think anyone should be doing it but you've got governments and quasi-governments (corporations) engaging in this behavior of steering public opinion. Neither of them are righteous.
>This are signs of a company that thinks that is above the law.
I don't think this is the case at all. These regulations aren't exactly law that has been around for a while. It's actively being created and lobbied for right now. Obviously Facebook is going to respond to it.
Its interesting to see some European nations stepping up their game in cyber warfare and disinformation. Usually you hear about the USA, Russia, China, sometimes the UK, but rarely any of the other European nations.
I wonder if many of the new, non pc gaming users have seen either of the old or new site designs as opposed to one of the many mobile apps given how much interaction happens there and how strongly you’re pushed away to the official app.
If it’s any consolation, the US has increasingly moved its diplomatic channels out of their traditional venues into the Pentagon over the past few decades, and it’s absolutely packed to the gills with Vindmans and Hills.
While the State Department might get a new coat of paint under Biden, it’s been being “gutted” for decades.
You don’t have to think anything, there are millions of boricuas across the US who will happily fill you in on how divisive statehood is and how little mainland politics factor into it.
Solo development IME is 90% sabbatical or very early stage startup anyways.
Find some other malcontents OP, it generally works itself out naturally from there.
