Most people realize the shitty things they have done only at a time like this. The ones who actually care, take or at least try to take the necessary steps to prevent it from happening at all.

Looks like this been made with AI. It seems too "clean" and simple and others have pointed out some issues.

Yep, I definitely leveraged AI when building it; however, it is still built by me. So far it is a weekend project, not meant to be a production-grade app with polish.

Vercel, React, Tailwind, and Supabase. Most likely made with AI. The hover animations area a giveaway too.

I believe whatever universe "contains" us or simulates us has to be inconceivably different to ours. For us, only the physics of this universe makes sense and it seems pretty straightforward to imagine that we cannot conceive of any rules that the outside world follows.

> I think most people would end up mired in the desire for purity without the achievement to balance it out.

I feel too many game devs get lost in that instead of just focusing on making a good game. Just make the damn game - there are so many good engines and languages out there, why do you want purity when you don't have the freedom to pursue it?

I think a lot of programmers love the idea of being game developers but don't really have much of an idea for what to make, so they get diverted into developing a game engine or even tools to support a game engine instead. People can spend years on that. And that's a perfectly fine hobby. But it doesn't usually result in actually making a game.

My advice to people going down that path is: consider contributing to ScummVM, an open source roguelike, or a ROM hacking project for a game you already like. Scratch your technical itch on something that other people will actually play. It feels great, and it gives you a better path toward eventually building something that's totally your own. Trying to build your own game engine and game on top of it is like taking a plane to Nepal and just starting to walk up Everest with the intention of figuring it out as you go.

> but that they will always rule us, because the rule-set is spreading at-or-above the speed of light while simultaneously preventing us from being able to exceed it

The rule-set would essentially be a field, I guess?

I wonder what could happen at the edge of these zones where incompatible physical laws meet.

Does the leading character have a dump truck?

Yes, and it's full of pepperoni!

The Master did that in Doctor Who

It has all distilled down to RCS Messages and other messenger apps so stop worrying about what Google is doing and start using whichever app your family and friends are on.

Both ecosystems have their own pros and cons but I wouldn't trade my Pixel for an iPhone ever.

In fact, I recently got a refurbished iPhone 13 just to check the ecosystem out (as a mobile dev) and get a feel for things but honestly I prefer my Pixel more. There are so many things that Android does well like notifications and typing (these two stood out to me on Apple - horrible implementations really, especially the latter) that it will always remain my primary driver.

But yeah, if someone thinks that Android is not for them and Apple's walled garden is worth entering then or vice versa then whatever floats your boat, I guess.

Did you know you can install GBoard (Google's Android keyboard) on iPhone? I would never be able to use an iPhone without it.

Typing on iPhone is just such a bad joke.

Typing on all touch screens is a bad joke. It's like you're comparing a dog turd with a cat turd.

It’s not the touch screen that’s the issue. It’s the autocorrect. And it’s not an imaginary comparison I used to have “t9” on my phone 20 years ago that was better than what maybe any phone now has. I’m pretty certain iphone was better once too. I remember being able to touch type on my iphone (yes on a touch screen it was that good)

If there’s one thing that infuriates me about the current crop of phones, it’s this. I’ve actually mostly switched to voice dictation because my iPhone touch screen sucks so much. Bring back physical keyboards!
