E-Mail is actually a nice alternative of note-taking that I never really thought of.

Good: Endless Clients, Rich Text/HTML, Images, Open Format, Searchable, Selfhosted, Sync with Mobile, Tags ..

Not Good: Only partially editable (drafts), ..?
