Instead, I just turned on the Time Machine option on my Synology. Job done. In addition to network Time Machine I also run a local Time Machine on an external SSD. Backup redundancy is key.
Also of note: I use a similar thin client running ESXi to run old Intel Windows VMs that I occasionally need. The cost of that one was also $25 plus replacement RAM and SSD.
